Prince William Set to Attend UN Climate Conference in South America
Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, as confirmed by palace sources.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
The King and Prince were present at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Commitment
The King has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the climate conference.
Official representatives have described William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an significant responsibility in "environmental negotiations".
Recent Engagements
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to guests including environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This engagement featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Link
The climate conference will coincide with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the eve of he attends the climate conference on 6 November.

The King has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks confronting humanity over climate change, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the King told participants.
