Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
